Dutchess County NY is full of history, there are still homes here dating back to the early 1700’s.    The region is  home to the FDR Presidential library which is located in Historic Hyde Park  and annually attracts many visitors from around the world.

This is a culturally rich region of New York, with art museums such as Dia and Hessel  showcasing work of many artists.  Wonderful artistic performances at the Fisher Center at Bard and the fine institutions of Vassar, Marist, Bard ,and the Culinary Institute of America.

Views, Dining and Recreation

In Dutchess County  NY you will find views of the Berkshire foothills, horse farms in the east and the Hudson River with the Catskill Mountains as a backdrop to the west.  Old and new farms keep the counties many farmer’s markets and restaurants well-stocked with local foods and promote agri-tourism.

This area is also a popular destination for second or vacation homes, and those priced out of some of the counties further south.  It is no surprise that people move here.  For many, the love affair started back in their childhood when their parents took them to Dutchess County NY for the summer.  I have spoken to many who have fond memories of the cabin in the woods, picking blueberries, and fishing in one of the many streams
